and Yoko otoshi

The image which looks like the action of Uke is the last one, but obviously its tori doing the throw, when you look at Mitchells Legs at the beginning of the throw and Ukes position, it becomes more apparent,

Thank you Paul

I will defer to the Superior knowledge of Nogaki Sensei, it looked to me as if Tori was performing Yoko Sutemi Waza, but as stated was the YSW deliberate ?? perhaps not.

True spirit of Judo is nothing but the gentle and diligent free spirit. Judo rests on flexible action of mind and body. The word flexible however never means weakness but something more like adaptability and open-mindedness. Gentleness always overcomes strength.

I think its Yoko Gake by the way the opponent goes off balance before the throw

Re:Homework - name this throw 3 Years, 8 Months ago
I'm at a loss for why the throw at 39 seconds would be kosoto gake. I guess I need to watch it a few more times and re-read ptnippon sensei's posts again. I would have called it yoko otoshi I think...

In response to ptnippon's question - Based on the video alone, I absolutely think that tori was attempting sutemi waza.

Are we sure we're all talking about the same throw, and not just the first throw in the video?

In my opinion tori was not attempting to a yoko sutemi waza. If he was, then it would be yoko gake. However based on tori's initial movement and drive, I believe was trying for kosoto gake, was too far away and dropped.

Re:Homework - name this throw 3 Years, 8 Months ago
Yoko gake was my initial thought... Actually nidan kokosoto gari was initially what I thought he attempted, then I changed to yoko gake and finally settled on some kid of yoko otoshi. I would concede yoko gake I guess, though I was always taught that uke's leg should be knocked from under him, rather than being blocked and pulled over it.

I thought tori clearly attacked with sutemi waza, but I imagine that debate could go on for a long time so I'll just agree to disagree, though I mean no disrespect by doing so.

My first thought when I saw it was yoko gake, I wasn't looking at what he was attempting but what he actually did.
