That music is BEYOND tacky

I walked into the Australian Judo Nationals today with the team of Referees and was greeted with.....

"Hi Steve, who is your partner for the Katame No Kata on Monday" by the State President.

"Er... Hi Robert" was my greeting followed by "I don't have one, I haven't competed in a Kata Tournament since Lubo, Guido and I won the State title 2 years ago".

Pres. said "Well you had better find one, because I have entered you and an "un-named partner in the KNK for Monday Morning".

Problem, Lubo has just recovered from a Hernia Operation2 Months ago, We have not trained together for over 18 months, we have not practiced KNK for 2 years.

All other possible partners are Kata Judges or rival competitors.

Should make for an interesting Monday...........................if I can find a Tori to work with.

Well after asking about 15 people today, I have found a partner for the KNK tomorrow morning,
I have not performed KNK with this person since I did a quick 15 minute refresher for him in November 2004 when he was waiting to perform for his Ni Dan (which he passed).

We are both pouring over tapes and DVD's of KNK tonight in the hope that we will not stuff up too much in the morning.

We will be the most mismatched pair on the Tatami with me as Tori at 5'9" and Daniel as Uke at 5'2".

Our greatest wish is to not lose too many points with silly errors, if I can get a result I will let you know what we threw away and if possible where we went wrong.

I have seen our opposition at the Kata Competitors briefing today, and if we can do better than a top 10 at National level I will be quite pleased.

I will let you know tomorrow evening or within a day or so.

Hmmmm...I see I should've saved my frequent flier miles to use now so Steve and I could've done this together. That would've been a real treat. I hope it all goes well though mate.

We can save it for next year mate and have it as an opening ceremony to the camp 2009, we'll do NNK and you can be Uke
